The book series has been endorsed by many educators, from administrators to teachers to reading specialists. The books and plush toys have been effective with children with autism and special needs, along with children in crisis, in traumatic situations, and in family mediation. Social workers have jokingly and lovingly referred to Sherman as a “support animal". The author is a former teacher of Kindergarten, First, and Second Grades and also ran her own Pre-school for two years

Our Story

Sherman is a lovable pretend sheep who teaches valuable life lessons. The books focus on basics like courtesy, kindness, emotions, health and safety. One book, “Boredom” helps tots explore imagination and creativity that comes with learning to entertain oneself without electronics. Fear of the dark is addressed as well, as is navigating the journey of getting a new sibling. All messages are delivered through the magic of rhyme and whimsy. Sherman has influenced the creation of literature that is interactive…using shape, color, and word recognition, along with numbers, counting, and, of course, rhyming. The rhyming helps children memorize and recite the verses, all the while building sight word vocabulary and reading confidence as they master early reading

Books and Stuff

Sherman Understands Darkness

“Darkness” and Sherman soothes small Children’s fear of the dark. The goal is to teach tots that really there is nothing to be afraid of in the dark….. that ghosts and goblins and things that go bump in the night aren't really real, only what we imagine. Sherman teaches children to imagine good things, joys, and use happy thoughts to help bring on sleep. Use of the stuffed sheep to augment the reading helps provide comfort, love, and the feel of protection by Sherman.

Sherman's Courtesy Guide (for not so little people)

The Sherman Courtesy Guide is a parody of the original children's Courtesy book. It is a comical version addressing an often much needed reminder of how to behave with kindness, politely, unselfishly, and with courtesy at a minimum. As children grow and negotiate our new world, especially as teenagers, they often need a reminder from other than an adult. Sherman's Guide is a fun way to approach snark, rudeness, insolence and entitlement that sometimes comes with aging in today's world. Sherman does this with much needed HUMOR. This book has been authorized and used in special education situations, with case workers, and even HR. Yes, the messages are good even for some adults.

New Book, Coming in 2025, as yet untitled

This Book is about tolerance and acceptance of EVERYONE, no matter how different they may be from ourselves. This book allows children to explore the use of kindness and patience and listening, before, perhaps, they see otherwise in our grownup world.
Children are innately born to react to a smile, love and kindness and generally accepting of all kinds of differences as long as they feel safe along the way. Here’s hoping this book provides a good start to growing and living a life of not judging people for they way the look or the way they sometimes act. Everyone has bad days that don’t define them.
