Sherman was created by Catherine Markl, or "Cee Cee" as her grandchildren call her. He is a loveable pretend sheep who spouts valuable life lessons to toddlers, helping them navigate their journey through childhood. Sherman is the true genius behind each story. His aim is to help tots gain knowledge from a cuddly little sheep rather than the perceived droning of an adult.
The messages are delivered via poetic verse, adding fun and whimsy to each story. Sherman has influenced the creation of literature that is interactive.........using shape, color, and word recognition, along with counting and, of course, rhyming. The rhyming helps children memorize and recite verses, allowing them to feel that they are reading, thus encouraging their love of books for a lifetime. The books are good confidence builders for beginning readers.
The pictures are drawn by hand by Cee Cee on the computer, creating a childlike art that any child can relate to.
A little about Cee Cee:
Cee Cee grew up in a small central California town. She comes from a long line of educators, so it was natural to follow suit. She taught kindergarten, first, and second grades for several years before "hanging up her chalk " to raise her own two children. She ran her own nursery school for a few years while juggling motherhood duties. She is now free to spoil her daughter's ten year old triplets in Charleston, South Carolina and her son's two little ones in Sacramento, California. She is married to a wonderful guy who is a pilot for a major airline.
It is fair to say that her five grandchildren have been an inspiration for Sherman and his adventures. The Grands have provided endless story ideas and lessons.
